Hospital. Born Jan. 18, 1925, in Lamoni, Iowa, he was the son of the late Edward Andrew and Eleanore Sarah Bruch Elefson. He lived his early life in Butler, Mo. He graduated from Butler High School with the class of 1942. He received his bachelor of science degree in sociology from the University of Washington in 1965. He was an analyst for the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C. He retired in 1988. He was a member of Community of Christ in Martinsburg, W.Va., where he was an ordained patriarch. He was a member of NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees). He is survived by his wife of more than 59 years, Betty May Blair Elefson; three daughters, Sharon E. Worgum of Olympia, Wash., Deborah J. Kienle of Vancouver, Wash., and Kathryn L. Hawkins of Poolesville, Md.; three sisters, Beth Gamble and Esther Hoover, both of Independence, Mo., and Kathryn Sacry of White Hall, Mont.; two brothers, Don Elefson of Independence and Vern Elefson of River Falls, Wis.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Christine D. Long; one son, Elbert K. Elefson; three sisters, Lyda R. Graybill, Alice Mohler and Jean Stayton; and one brother, Edward Elefson. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday [Thursday] at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Pastor Joel P. McKenzie will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Frederick, Md. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 225 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
