      Korean War veteran, retired FAA technician

      Walter M. Sawn Jr., 77, of Leesburg died Saturday morning, March 7, 2009, at home.

      Born in Camden, he was the son of the late Walter M. and Mildred Rehfus Sawn and the husband of Jean Tomlin Sawn. Mr. Sawn was formerly of Florida and resided in Leesburg the past 15 years. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from the Federal Aviation Administration as an electronic technician with more than 25 years of service. Mr. Sawn enjoyed flying radio control airplanes, bowling and computers. He was a member of the Dorchester United Methodist Church.

      Surviving are his wife, Jean; three sons, James and his wife Cindy of Philadelphia, Bruce of Alabama and Walter III of Leesburg; two daughters, Barbara Stolar and her husband David of Vineland, and Janet Collins and her husband Ed of Virginia; brother Jack of North Carolina; sisters Audrey Ridgeway of Florida and Judy Finger of Deerfield; mother in-law Evelyn Tomlin of Leesburg; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

      Private funeral services were held for the family at Hoffman Funeral Homes, 643 Main St., Leesburg.

      Interment was in Leesburg Cemetery.

      Memorial donations may be made to the Dorchester United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 555, Dorchester, NJ 08316; or Ranch Hope for Boys, P.O. Box 325, Alloway, NJ 08001-0325.
