      Bertie, Denise Dawn, 18, of Buffalo, formerly of Independence, died Thursday, June 2, 1994 of injuries received in an automobile accident. Service 1:30 p.m. Monday, Buffalo United Methodist Church; graveside service 3:45 p.m. Monday, Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence.

      Survivors: mother and stepfather, Deanna and Tom Snyder of Buffalo; father and stepmother, Terry and Dawn Bertie of Independence; brothers, Jason and Andrew Bertie, both of Independence; stepsisters, Ivy, Jeni and Tina Davis, all of Independence; maternal grandparents, Shirley and Frank Dannels of Chanute, James Wooldridge Sr. of Parsons; paternal grandparents, Charles and Orlena Bertie of Independence; step grandparents, Bill and Patricia Snyder of Chanute. Memorial has been established with the Womens Softball Program of Altoona-Midway High School. Johnson Mortuary, Chanute.
