      WEST SPRINGFIELD - Thelma Adele (Peterson) Atchinson passed away February 15th, 2003 after a
      brief stay at a local nursing home. Thelma was born March 17, 1921 to the late Albert and Hazel
      (Beaudry) Peterson, was an active worker and participant in the early Weight Watchers Program and
      bored barrels at the Springfield Armory at Watershops in Springfield. She was predeceased by her
      husband, Earle S. Atchinson July 16, 2002. Earle was educated in Springfield, and was in the CCC
      (Civil Conservation Corp) during WWII, and also worked for Indian Motorcycle in Springfield, and for the
      Western Mass. Electric Company for many years. Earle's hobbies included rebuilding and restoring
      vintage automobiles. Earle left his brother, Frank Atchinson of Wilbraham, a sister, Arline Betterly of
      East Longmeadow, and was predeceased by his sister Marion Hall, formerly of West Springfield.
      Thelma was predeceased by her brother, Albert Jr. Together, they leave their children, Gary and his
      wife Sheron of West Springfield, Glen of Belchertown, Allyn Hall and his wife Mary of Westfield, and
      they were predeceased by their son Richard Hall formerly of Rochester, NY. They were also survived by
      six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. All services are private at the request of the family, and
      there are no calling hours. Burial for Earle and Thelma will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Springfield.
      The Toomey-O'Brien Funeral Home of West Springfield is handling all arrangements for the family.
