From the Richmond Times, Nov. 12, 1891:

The funeral of Mr. Herman C. Boschen will take place this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the St. John's Lutheran church.

Mr. Boschen died at 1:30 o'clock yesterday morning at his home, No. 306 east Clay street. He had been confined to his bed for about one month with consumption, and his death was not unexpected. Mr. Boschen had been engaged for a number of years in the shoe trade of this city, and was widely known for his honorable dealings.

He was a splendid citizen, generous and kind, and numbered his friends by the hundreds. As a husband and father he was tender and loving, and, withal, was a man who in every relation of life was all that it is possible for a man to be.
